  Learning to Lament by Rachel   There are some people who say, “It isn’t right to speak in such a way to God.” Others say, “You should never question Him.” Instead people are expected to use spiritual platitudes that ignore the severity of situations and put God in a box to be controlled or understood. But God is Sovereign and sometimes His thoughts and ways are beyond us. Lamentations 3 shows that the author, Jeremiah, experienced the wrath of God poured out on His people as promised. Jeremiah also experienced the wrath of his own people who failed to listen to his words and treated him as less than humane. Jeremiah is a tried and true prophet. He speaks truth. His emotions are raw. They are public. They are real. He doesn’t hide them. He doesn’t think God’s Sovereignty is at stake. Jeremiah Stated: He (God) has driven me.   New Morning Mercies Marsela Silence and darkness are hardly a comfort. To dwell in them for too long is an assault against our senses and against the very design of our being. We were created with the ability to see and to hear. More than that, we were purposed to see and to hear Someone.   In Lamentations 3, we find Jeremiah in silence and in darkness. “I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of his wrath; he has driven me and brought me into darkness without any light…” (v. 1-2) “…he has made me dwell in darkness like the dead long ago” (v. 6) “…though I call and cry for help, he shuts out my prayer.” (v. 8) “…you have wrapped yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.” (v. 44) In his affliction, Jeremiah says, “My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is. A lesson on Grace Rahel Lalhlimpuii Andrews   Lamentations!   What an apt title for this book! The more I learn about the author, Jeremiah, the more I want to lament!   His life was NOT a bed of roses.   Far, far from it!   I can truly say that Jeremiah is a real hero!   He was chosen by God (Jeremiah chapter 1).    You may be thinking, “what is she saying? This is supposed to be a blog entry on the book of Lamentations!”   Do bear with me! I am on cloud 9 when I think of being chosen by the Lord to do His work.  It sounds beautiful, doesn’t it?
